1. Why did you decide to work for Brackenridge?
I wanted to pursue a career in the disability field and I discovered that Brackenridge was forward thinking and wanted to make significant changes to way people with disabilities were supported and included in the community and were implementing a new person centred vision.  Working at Brackenridge is a huge opportunity for me to be involved in supporting people to create great lives and I am fortunate to be able to do this in a variety of ways. The Brackenridge vision is something I want to be a part of and I am proud to be working here. I love working with people, so there's no better place to be!

 2. Why do you like working at Brackenridge?
The people! The work environment is so dynamic and there’s always
something interesting going on. I like knowing that my work makes a positive difference in people’s lives; I have a lot to with the people we support and support staff,  it is the humanness of the organisation that motivates me to continually reflect and improve what I do and how I do it. Working here requires a diverse skill set, Brackenridge has
a talented and skilled wider staff team.

3. What are your main responsibilities and duties?
I am the manager of the newly developed It and communication
area. I spend a lot of my time training staff in computer skills, maintaining our websites, digital signage and internal intranet as well as communications to staff and families. Keeping staff and families informed about the organisation and wider disability sector, communication is a high priority for the organisation. I am also responsible for the assistive communication service and developing an effective volunteer programme. As well, I also help with
visual presentations, brochure design for various people and troubleshoot and liaise with our IT partners for any IT issues. I'd say we have a really innovative and creative team and that is why services have been so successful in implementing the Brackenridge vision. In this job creativity is very important, barriers can come along at any time and you need to be thoughtful, flexible and innovative in your thinking.

4. What are the most challenging and interesting projects you've
worked on at Brackenridge?

This one, definitely! In the past year the implementing
technology across the organisation really took hold and this has been an important, challenging and stimulating project. I was able to meet and work with some fabulous people and companies in the IT sector. Over the last year I have worked closely with CodeBlue, Vivid Networks, The New Black and Sietec. We are currently working with Webcare to develop our case management and roster systems.  Making the right
decisions about IT is important because we needed to take real care in our approach and meet the organisations and  people’s needs effectively. We wanted to create an efficient, useful and practical structure and system that we can also build on in the future. I believe we have done this and seeing all our hard work coming together at the moment is really exciting!

5. What has been the most amazing experience or day you have had at Brackenridge?
Every day! – I have worked in a variety of different roles in the organisation and having the opportunity to do that has been an awesome. I like being offered a challenge and the freedom to be creative, use and develop my skills to be the best person and employee I can be. I have loved every single minute of it.
